Questions, answered kindly

The things people ask before they book — home, storage, office and abroad. If yours isn’t here, the form or a quick email will sort it.

Getting started

Which parts of Finchley do you cover?

All of it, happily — and the streets around it too. We’re out across North Finchley (N12), East Finchley (N2) and Finchley Central (N3) most weeks, plus Woodside Park, Whetstone and the Barnet borders. Each area has its own quirks — parking, period homes, the odd tricky staircase — and we plan around the one you’re actually in.

Do you do storage as well as removals?

We do, and it’s one of the things people come to us for most. If your dates don’t quite line up, or you just need to clear some space for a bit, we can hold your things safely and bring them back when you’re ready. Have a look at the storage page — it walks through how it works, by the box, the unit or the container.

How do you work out a quote?

We start from what you tell us — how many rooms, the access at both ends, anything heavy or fragile — then confirm it with a quick video call or a visit before anything’s fixed. What shapes it is the volume, the distance and the access, not a number picked out of the air. You’ll get it in writing, with what’s included spelled out.

Can you help with packing, or just the moving?

Either, or somewhere in between — it’s completely up to you. Some people want the whole house packed and unpacked; others just want a hand with the fragile bits and the big furniture. Tell us where you’d like the line drawn and we’ll sort exactly that. No pressure to take more than you need.

Can you move us abroad too?

Yes! Alongside local moves we run a European arm to France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. It adds a route plan and the customs paperwork on top of the usual packing and loading — and those are the parts we handle for you, so a big move feels a lot less daunting.

Storage

What kind of storage do you offer?

Flexible options to suit the job — from a few boxes to a full household. Depending on what you’re storing and for how long, that might be a container load kept in a secure facility, or a room-sized unit you can add to over time. We’ll talk you through which fits when we understand what you’re moving.

Can I store things between selling and buying?

That’s one of the most common reasons people use us. Chains slip, completion dates move, and suddenly there’s a gap between homes. We can collect, hold your things safely, and deliver to the new place when you’re ready — so a wobble in the chain doesn’t become a crisis.

Can I get to my things while they’re in storage?

Usually yes — access can be arranged when you need something back. Tell us up front if you think you’ll want regular access and we’ll factor that into how we pack and store it, so the things you might need aren’t buried at the back.

How much storage will I need?

Hard to guess from the outside, easy for us to work out with you. When we survey the move we can size the storage at the same time, so you’re not paying for space you won’t use or squeezing into too little. It’s all part of the same conversation.

Office & business moves

Can you move our office without closing us for the day?

That’s the aim every time. Most business moves around Finchley run in the evening or over a weekend so nobody loses a working day. We plan the order carefully — the phones, the key desks and the day-one essentials come off the van first and go live first, so you walk in to a working office.

Do you handle the IT and the desks?

We do. Workstations get labelled to a plan of the new floor, cables bagged and tagged, and everything moved with care. We’ll agree the power-down and power-up order with your IT people so things come back in the right sequence. We’re movers, not an IT firm — we handle the moving side and work alongside yours.

Do you move shops and studios along the High Road?

Yes — the businesses along Ballards Lane, the High Road and around Tally Ho are part of our patch. Retail units changing premises, studios, small practices with equipment that needs care — tell us what has to keep working and we’ll plan the move around it.

Moving abroad

What happens with customs now the UK is outside the EU?

There’s paperwork both ends now — an inventory, a transit declaration for the goods crossing the EU, and transfer-of-residence forms where they apply. It sounds heavier than it is. We prepare it with you and lodge what needs lodging, so the border is a formality rather than a headache — the part we take off your plate.

Do we need a whole vehicle, or can we share?

Both work. A full home usually takes a dedicated load. If you’re moving less — a flat, part of a house, or you’re flexible on timing — a shared or part-load puts your things on a vehicle already heading that way. Your written quote will say which suits what you’re sending.

How long will a European move take to arrive?

It depends on the route, the crossing, whether it’s a dedicated or shared load, and customs at the far end. Rather than promise a figure that turns out wrong, your written quote gives you an estimated window and we keep you posted as the load makes its way across.

Which countries do you move to from Finchley?

The four we run regularly are France, Italy, Spain and Portugal — we know those roads, crossings and customs steps. If you’re thinking of somewhere else in Europe, do ask; we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s something we can plan properly for you.

Still wondering about something? The Finchley removals, storage and European pages go into more detail — or just send your details and ask.
